  • Trump Tells Supreme Court It Gave Him ‘Unrestricted Power’ to Fire People

President Donald Trump has reminded the Supreme Court that it gave him almost absolute immunity last year and the “unrestricted power” to fire federal officials.

The statement came in his appeal to the Supreme Court after a lower federal court blocked him from firing special counsel Hampton Dellinger.

    Why It Matters

On July 1, 2024, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Trump, and any other president, had absolute immunity for core presidential actions and presumptive immunity for noncore presidential acts.

The current appeal that Trump has taken to the Supreme Court is the first real test of that presidential power since Trump resumed office on January 20.

    What To Know

Former President Joe Biden appointed Dellinger as special counsel in charge of an office where federal workers could safely report corruption and wrongdoing.

Trump’s office fired Dellinger on February 7 with a one-line email.

On February 12, Washington, D.C., federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson reinstated Dellinger until she held a full hearing on February 26.

In a February 16 Supreme Court appeal of Berman Jackson’s ruling, acting Solicitor General Sarah M. Harris relied heavily on the Supreme Court’s July 1 ruling on presidential immunity.

“As this Court observed just last Term, ‘Congress cannot act on, and courts cannot examine, the President’s actions on subjects within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority’ —including ‘the President’s unrestricted power of removal with respect to ‘executive officers of the United States whom [the President] has appointed,’” Harris wrote.

Harris quoted the Supreme Court as stating that the president has “unrestricted power to remove” the most senior federal officers he has appointed. She wrote that “enjoining the President and preventing him from exercising these powers thus inflicts the gravest of injuries on the Executive Branch and the separation of powers.”

    What People Are Saying

Judge Amy Berman Jackson, in her February 12 decision reinstating special counsel Hampton Dellinger: “Defendants imply that it would be too disruptive to the business of the agency to have Special Counsel Dellinger resume his work. But any disruption to the work of the agency was occasioned by the White House.”

“It’s as if the bull in the china shop looked back over his shoulder and said, ‘What a mess!’” she wrote.

    What Happens Next

The Supreme Court has yet to say whether it will hear Trump’s appeal. If it does, it would likely be expedited, given the seriousness of the issue and the potential conflict it causes within the executive branch of government.

Harris has asked the Supreme Court for “an immediate administrative stay of the district court’s order pending the Court’s consideration of this application.”

Lizzo just let fans in on a wild piece of her and SZA’s past as the former gears up for a new music era — the longtime friends once planned to start a rock band.

During a Valentine’s Day Twitch stream, around the 54-minute mark, Lizzo reminisced about her long-time friendship with SZA and their past studio sessions, which nearly led to a rock trio called “Pussy Lasers.”

“We were going to start a rock band called Pussy Lasers with an incredible other artist who I don’t know if she even wants to be mentioned,” she said.

Although the band never materialised, their time in the studio resulted in F2F, a grunge-inspired track that landed on SZA’s 2022 album SOS. Lizzo recalled watching SZA freestyle almost the entire song, saying, “She writes the craziest, most insane shit that you’re thinking and feeling, but she just finds a way to say it.”

The About Damn Time hitmaker also revealed she recorded a “mumble verse” for the song that didn’t make the final cut, though some of her harmonies remained.

“I [hoped she’d put] it on the album,” Lizzo admitted, before adding that SZA later surprised her with the finished version. “And this is why she’s the GOAT.”

As for Lizzo’s own music, she confirmed that she’s closing out her Special era on February 28 after a long wait, teasing, “The new era begins today… I truly am coming to gag throats.”

  • Elon Musk’s Estranged Daughter Vivian Says She Found Out About Her New Sibling on Social Media

Elon Musk’s estranged daughter Vivian Wilson is breaking her silence after the Tesla founder allegedly fathered his 13th child with author Ashley St. Clair.

In a post shared via TikTok on Saturday, February 15, Wilson, 21, claimed she found out that the children’s book author had allegedly given birth to her apparent sibling on Reddit. Musk has yet to publicly confirm the news himself.

“Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I found out I had half-siblings through Reddit, I’d have two nickels … which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice, right,” she said in the clip.

Wilson legally changed her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson in June 2022. “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” she told a judge in Los Angeles, who granted the request.

St. Clair claimed via X on Saturday, February 14, that she gave birth to Musk’s 13th child five months ago. “Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father,” she wrote. “I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

“I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment. For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting,” St. Clair added.

Musk is already a father to 12 children with three different women. He and his first wife Justine Wilson, who were married from 2000 to 2008, have five children together. (Musk and Wilson, 51, also shared a son Nevada, who died of sudden infant death syndrome when he was 10 weeks old.) Musk and pop star Grimes have three, and he also recently welcomed this third child with Neurolink executive Shivon Zillis.

On Sunday, February 15, St. Clair issued another statement about her alleged parenting plans with Musk. “Ashley & Elon have been privately working towards the creation of an agreement about raising their child for some time,” her rep Brian Glicklich shared via X.

“It is disappointing that a tabloid reporter, who repeatedly ambushed Ashley and her family, made it impossible to complete that process confidentially,” Glicklich continued. “We are waiting for Elon to publicly acknowledge his parental role with Ashley, to end unwarranted speculation, and Ashley trusts that Elon intends to finish their agreement quickly, in the best interests of the wellbeing and security of the child they share.”

King Charles stands with Canada after Trump’s statement

King Charles III has seemingly reminded his son Prince Harry that he’s the head of state of Canada with his latest move.

Buckingham Palace has released the monarch’s personal statement amid Harry’s Invictus Games in Vancouver.

The 76-year-old appeared to support the nation with his powerful words as the North American country celebrated the 60th anniversary of its National Flag on February.

The monarch, who is Canada’s head of state, praised the “resilient” in his statement, which comes at the time US President Donald Trump suggested that Canada should be made the “51st state”.

The US president has repeatedly suggested that Canada could become a US state to avoid major tariffs on trade.

The King, in his message, states: “Today my wife and I join with Canadians across Canada, and around the world, to commemorate an important milestone – the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag. On February 15, 1965, the red and white maple leaf was first flown on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

“Since that time, it has become internationally recognised as a symbol of a proud, resilient and compassionate country.

“For my own part, it is a symbol that never fails to elicit a sense of pride and admiration, as I recall with the deepest affection my many Canadian visits and friendships.”

The King’s message comes after the US president said: “What I’d like to see – Canada become our 51st state.”

The comments, made both in posts on the social media platform Truth Social and in remarks to reporters, were dismissed by Canadian officials as a joke when first mentioned in December.

According to Ipsos poll, conducted in January, 80 per cent of Canadians oppose their country becoming part of the US, with officials strongly against the suggestion.

  • Ellen DeGeneres reveals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle adopted one of her chickens

Duke and Duchess of Sussex call their chicken coop ‘Archie’s Chick Inn’

One of Ellen DeGeneres’ pet chickens has just gained a royal title.

On Saturday 13 January, the former talk show host took to Instagram to share an update on her chicken coop. In the caption, DeGeneres explained that one of her chickens had an injury and needed to be relocated because of how the fellow chickens were treating her.

“Sinkie’s leg is fixed but our chickens were still picking on her so she had to be re-homed,” her Instagram post read. “Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan’s coop had room for one more. Not sure yet what her royal title will be. Thanks Dr Christine Sellers for your excellent care of Sinkie.”

The royal couple has been friends with the comedian for many years, especially after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their duties as senior working royals in 2020 and relocated to Montecito, California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex even attended DeGeneres’ surprise vow renewal with her wife, Portia de Rossi, in February 2023.

Since Harry and Meghan made their move, the couple has discovered a passion for rescuing chickens from a factory farm. The pet chickens are kept in a coop named “Archie’s Chick Inn” after their eldest child, four-year-old Prince Archie.

“I just love rescuing,” Meghan said during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, which took place after she and her husband stepped down from royal family life.

After DeGeneres formally announced that Sinkie has been taken in by the Sussexes, many people flooded the comments section with name suggestions fit for a royal chicken. “Duchess of Yolk,” one commenter wrote.

“Lady Sinkington would be such a cute royal title for Sinkie!” another commenter suggested.

“Her Henness,” a third commenter wrote.

Most recently, it was reported that the late Queen Elizabeth II was infuriated by Harry and Meghan’s claim that she had approved of them naming their daughter Lilibet, according to a new book.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan announced their daughter’s birth and shared in a statement that she was named after the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. However, a new biography by royal journalist Robert Hardman has said the late Queen was “as angry as I’d ever seen her” after the couple stated she had been “supportive” of the name.

The book, which is currently being serialised in the Daily Mail, also claims the Sussexes were “rebuffed” by Buckingham Palace when they asked them to back up their claim publicly.

The book reads: “One privately [member of palace staff] recalled that Elizabeth II had been ‘as angry as I’d ever seen her’ in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter ‘Lilibet’, the Queen’s childhood nickname.

“The couple subsequently fired off warnings of legal action against anyone who dared to suggest otherwise, as the BBC had done. However, when the Sussexes tried to co-opt the Palace into propping up their version of events, they were rebuffed.”

Shortly after Lilibet’s name was announced, the BBC reported that a palace source had said the Queen “was not asked by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about naming their daughter Lilibet”. As a result, the couple accused the broadcasters of libel, but according to Hardman, the threat of legal action “evaporated and the libel action against the BBC never materialised”.

At the time, Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson said: “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”

Prince Harry receives shocking news as Invictus Games comes to end

Prince Harry has been warned of serious consequences in his US visa case, despite Donald Trump’s statement ruling out the deportation of the Duke.

For the unversed, the Duke of Sussex is on the radar of the US think tank, The Heritage Foundation, as they raised questions about Harry’s visa application in 2020 after he confessed in his bombshell memoir Spare of taking cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms.

Now, a judge from the case hinted at disclosing one of the legal documents submitted by the Duke amid Trump’s presidency.

An insider told Daily Mail, “President Trump has said he won’t deport Harry but there is no doubt he would support a prosecution.”

The source shared that the Duke is “off-the-hook with Trump.” The tipster continued, “The word in Washington is he should be very worried indeed. There is no love lost between the Sussexes and President Trump.”

It is important to note that these comments came after Trump called out Harry’s wife Meghan Markle.

Speaking of deportation speculations, the President said, “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

As per royal commentators, the Duke of Sussex hit back at Trump by publicly speaking about “weak moral character in the world” during the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony speech.
